In the GPS navigation module, we often see these terms: GPS, AGPS and LBS. In fact, they are all technologies related to location services. Let's take a look at their specific differences:
GPS (Global Positioning System): GPS is a satellite-based positioning system that obtains time information and location information by connecting to satellites in the earth's orbit. GPS technology can provide high-precision location information worldwide and is one of the most commonly used positioning technologies in Android and iOS systems.
AGPS (Assisted Global Positioning System): AGPS is a GPS-based positioning technology that provides auxiliary information to assist the GPS positioning process by establishing an intermediate node (such as a base station or Wi-Fi hotspot) between the mobile device and the satellite. AGPS technology can improve positioning speed and accuracy, especially indoors or in poor signal environments.
LBS (Location Based Service): LBS is a mobile device-based positioning technology that calculates the location of the mobile device by collecting information from surrounding wireless signals (such as base stations, Wi-Fi hotspots or Bluetooth devices). LBS technology can provide faster and more accurate location information relative to GPS, and can also be used indoors or in poor signal environments.
Now more and more pet owners are wearing GPS collars on their pets to monitor their pets' location and health in real time.
